Porzellan Konzept

Anna Sykora founded her porcelain workshop 1991 in Berlin. She was convinced that – apart from a high standard of design – the sensual perception of her vessels would be of great importance. This is why the vessels are not cast in moulds as usual, but thrown on the potter’s wheel. There are only few kinds of porcelain clay which allow this technique, which demands finely honed technical skills and great concentration. Every piece in the small series has its own character, differing slightly from the next.

„Terra Sigillata“ is the term for a technique of decoration which originates from the ancient world. Anna Sykora produces the mixtures for this complicated process herself from extremely fine kinds of clay. The result is a colouring and surface hardly ever found in porcelain.

Anna Sykora’s vessels not only look unusually beautiful, it is also a pleasure to touch and hold them in your hands.
